Handbag Design
As a fashionista in NYC in the mid 2000’s and into the 2010’s I was on top of the world with the coolest job, a handbag designer. Traveling the world was also part of my job description, sourcing materials in the markets, working with our sister company and sampling factory with locations in Dongguan China and Hong Kong, and traveling to fashion forward cities around the globe like Milan and Tokyo for trend research and design inspiration. I met Beyoncé while attending the MAGIC trade show in Vegas and worked with Tina Knowles on the House of Deréon and Miss Tina handbag lines. At the time, I was also ecstatic to work on Juicy Couture and Betsey Johnson’s Betseyville handbag lines. Tano was a high-end brand I deeply admired, I even owned a few of their bags from their charming little corner shop just a block away from my apartment in Soho. So, when I received the call to work directly with Steven Giner of Tano, I couldn’t believe my luck!
